What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a system of clear, plastic aligners that are used to gradually straighten teeth. The advantage of Invisalign® over traditional braces is that the aligners are practically invisible when worn, so most people won’t even know you’re undergoing treatment. Another great thing about Invisalign® is that the aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat, brush, and floss your teeth — no need to worry about food getting stuck in brackets and wires!

How Does Invisalign® Work?

Invisalign® treatment starts with a consultation with your dentist or orthodontist to see if you’re a good candidate. Once it’s determined that Invisalign® is right for you, scans of your teeth are taken and sent off to the Invisalign® lab. There, your unique aligners are created using cutting-edge 3D technology.

You’ll be given a series of aligners to wear, and you’ll need to switch to a new aligner every 1-2 weeks. As you progress through the treatment, your teeth will gradually shift into place. The entire treatment process usually takes 9-18 months, though it can vary from person to person.
